"The day I met Kate was one of the most exciting days of my life."

When she was eight, Fleur wrote a story about an alien and a jelly. It was called The Alien and the Jelly. She grew up a little, studied English, and, for twenty years, sold Applied Art in the city of Bath. In the end motherhood won and she retreated from the Art world, writing when the children were asleep. When her younger child was seven, she embarked on the Writing for Young People MA at Bath Spa, and graduated with distinction.

Now a successful children’s author, Fleur’s children’s books have been selected for, shortlisted or won many honours including:  The Sunday Times and The Times Children's Books of the Week, the Branford Boase Award, the Leeds Book Prize, Primary School Book Club, Crimefest, the Berkshire Book Award and the Oxfordshire Book Award.

HOW FLEUR BECAME KATE’S CLIENT

The MA in Writing for Young People at Bath Spa anthology brought us together.  Kate had read an extract of the book that was to become The Boy Who Flew and requested the manuscript. She read it, we arranged to meet and she offered representation there and then. It was one of the most exciting days of my life.

KATE ABOUT FLEUR

Fleur is a brilliant writer and fantastic person to know: I can’t believe how lucky I am to represent her!  Her absolute passion for children’s literature runs deep, and her work ethic, generosity of spirit and sense of fun are a pleasure to share in.
