Fran is a writer and graphic designer from West Yorkshire, who loves bringing new ideas to life. After studying English Literature for a year at university, she changed disciplines and went on to graduate with a BA in Graphic Design.

She remains a self-confessed bookworm and fills bookshelves as quickly as she can buy them. As a child, she was regularly told off for reading under the table during maths lessons. When she’s not reading or writing, Fran loves drinking coffee, drawing, and spoiling her house rabbit, Buffy.

Fran wrote her first novel for NaNoWriMo in November 2019 and it went on to win The Chairman’s Choice Award in The Times/Chicken House Competition 2020, gaining Fran representation by The Shaw Agency and a publishing deal with Chicken House. The Other Ones is published in autumn 2022.

HOW fran became KATE’s client

I became Kate’s client through winning The Chairman’s Choice Award for my first novel, which I’d entered into the 2020 Times/Chicken House Competition. From our first meeting, I knew I was excited to work with Kate and confident that joining The Shaw Agency was the right choice.
