THE WRITER WHO MOST INSPIRED MELANIE

There are two: Bruce Chatwin for his relentless curiosity, his stunning, stark and simple prose; and Nadine Gordimer, who showed me the way as a writer and a white woman in Africa.

HOW MELANIE BECAME KATE’S CLIENT

Kate read the manuscript of my first novel when she was just starting out as an agent and offered me representation.  I was one of her first clients.  Kate was so insightful with her comments and edits and sold a revised version to Penguin.

MELANIE ABOUT KATE

She remains my wisest reader, my staunchest ally.

KATE ABOUT MELANIE

I’ve proudly and passionately represented this extraordinary woman since 2002 and she never ceases to astonish me.  Mel’s singular imagination and world view; her intense, impressive prose; her fierce honesty and her deep connection to the natural world, make her a unique voice in fiction.
