“Kate’s exactly the sort of person you’d want in your corner.”

Rebecca was a shameless bookworm growing up, dedicated to fancy dress and midnight bookshop trips to get the latest releases, whether everyone else was in costume or not. She lived for World Book Day, packed her holiday suitcases full of books instead of clothes, and dreamt that one day she might see her own stories on the shelves.

But it wasn’t until after a degree, three years as a journalist and six months travelling the world that she started planning her novels. A spontaneous move to China led her to become a primary school teacher, and she dreamt up new worlds with her students before signing up for every writing course she could find, and eventually a Creative Writing MA, which she studied while freelance writing in Bratislava for two years.

Now living back in her beloved Cheshire, Rebecca is writing fiction for children and teenagers, including her debut children’s fantasy series Ember Shadows and the Fates of Mount Never.

THE WRITER WHO MOST INSPIRED rebecca

I still remember the first time I read Inkheart by Cornelia Funke and couldn’t get enough of that sense of adventure and magic. I’d love to give another reader that same excitement from my own work.

rebecca about KATE

From the first Zoom call with Kate, I knew I wanted to work with her. She has been unbelievably enthusiastic, honest and positive since day one, and her encouragement and never-ending belief in my work has been invaluable. She’s exactly the sort of person you’d want in your corner, and I could never have dreamt I’d find such a wonderful agent.

KATE ABOUT rebecca

When I read Rebecca’s debut children’s novel I thought: Rebecca is going to be a star!   Her magical imagination, the strong voice of her heroine and her sense of humour are joyous and positively infectious.  So too is Rebecca’s enthusiasm for the book business.  Rebecca was a superfan of World Book Day as a child: I predict she’ll soon be headlining it as an author.
